Shopify in Israel: the guide built on 8 real stores
There was no guide to Shopify in Israel written from the data of Israeli stores, so we wrote one. We opened 27.3 thousand orders from 8 Israeli Shopify stores over nine months of 2026: where orders come from, at what hour and on which day, at what discount, to which cities, and what to know before moving from Wix or WooCommerce.
From the outside, a Shopify store looks the same in every country. From the inside, Israel buys differently.

What Shopify is, and why Israeli stores choose it
Shopify is a subscription platform for building and running an online store: design, catalogue, checkout, inventory, orders and customers in one system, with no server, no plugins to update and no site that goes down. The theme, payment processing, shipping and invoicing are components you connect to it, and in Israel some of them take work.
The reasons we hear from store owners are prosaic, which is a compliment. The checkout does not fall over mid-sale. There is an app for everything, for better and worse. And the data is reachable through one interface, which is why Preneuriat's dashboards connect to a Shopify store in minutes. The other side: the subscription is paid whether or not you sell, part of the Israeli adaptation needs an app or a developer, and Google rankings do not come along from the old platform.
This guide was written from the data, not from Shopify's sales page: 8 Israeli Shopify stores we manage, 1 January to 28 September 2026, 27,349 orders, paid and not cancelled. All amounts are in Israeli shekels, including VAT, as paid at checkout.
Where the orders come from
Almost all of them from the store's own checkout. 95% of all orders pooled came through the online store, and 98% in the median store.
Where the orders came from, by channel
Share of all orders pooled, 8 stores. Channels under one percent are not shown.
The second channel is small but worth knowing: draft orders, which a service rep creates in the admin and sends to the customer as a payment link. They are 3% of orders pooled and exist in 5 of the 8 stores. It is the tool for phone and WhatsApp sales, and in Israel, where much of customer service runs on WhatsApp, it deserves its own measurement.
Point of sale, marketplaces and other sales-channel apps were marginal here. These are, first of all, online stores.
When Israelis buy
Order times are in Israel time. The busiest hour, pooled, is 10:00. The busiest three-hour block is 09:00-11:59, with 20% of orders, and 54% of all orders arrive between 09:00 and 18:00. The evening is not dead: 23% arrive between 20:00 and midnight. The night is quiet: only 8% between midnight and 07:00.
Orders by hour of day
Share of all orders pooled, in three-hour blocks, Israel time.
The morning peak surprises anyone used to advice about evening shopping on the couch. In the median store the peak hour is 12:00: the picture holds store by store.
The week looks different too. In Israel it starts on Sunday, Friday is short and Saturday, Shabbat, is the day of rest. The busiest day is Wednesday, with 17% of orders. Friday and Saturday bring 11% and 11%, 22% together, against 78% on the five working days. In 3 of the 8 stores Saturday was the weakest day.
Orders by day of the week
Share of all orders pooled, 8 stores. The Israeli week starts on Sunday.
What to do instead: open the advertising week on Sunday morning, not Monday; cover WhatsApp support in the morning and at the end of the working day, not only in the evening; and in stores that observe Shabbat, schedule promotions in advance to go live on Saturday night.
An Israeli store opens its week on Sunday morning and goes quiet on Friday and Saturday. No international template knows that unless you tell it.
The year has a shape
Order counts are not flat through the year. To compare stores of different sizes we built an index: each store's monthly average is 100, and we took the median across stores.
Orders month by month
Index: each store's monthly average is 100. Median across stores.
Source: Preneuriat client dashboards, 6 to 8 Israeli online stores, 1.1.2026 to 28.9.2026. Aggregates only.
The strongest month was March, at 125; the weakest January, at 76. A plausible explanation for March is shopping before Passover, a real shopping season in Israel, but the data does not prove it: some stores ran large sales that month anyway. The summer sale months also sit above average.
Plan inventory, budget and staffing to this shape, and judge growth against the same month a year earlier, not the previous month.
Discounts and codes
Israeli stores sell a lot at a discount. 74% of all orders pooled carried some discount, a code or an automatic one, and 63% in the median store. A discount code typed by the customer appeared in 47% of orders pooled, and in 36% in the median store.
Orders with a discount code, by store
One bar per store, lowest to highest. Share of orders where the customer typed a code.
The range between stores, 9% to 75%, is a range of strategy, not of management. A store that sells through influencers lives on codes; one that prefers automatic cart discounts shows few codes and many discounts. And a discount is not small: in the median store the median discount was 17% of the item subtotal. What it does to the basket is in how to increase average order value.
Basket and shipping in numbers
The average order value in the median store was ₪380, and the median order ₪310: the typical customer spends less than the average. The median number of items per order is 2, and 46% of orders contain a single item. 49% of orders in the median store shipped free, and paid shipping cost a median of ₪27. Set your free-shipping threshold against these numbers.
Where the customers are
Orders by customer city
Share of all orders pooled, by the shipping city as the customer typed it. The five largest cities and everyone else.
Tel Aviv is the largest city, with 9% of orders, followed by Rishon LeZion with 4%. The important finding is the last row: 78% of orders come from all the other cities. An Israeli online store sells to the whole country, so shipping rates have to work for the periphery, and advertising aimed only at the centre gives up most customers.
One caveat: this is a pooled share across 8 stores with different audiences, and the city is free text typed by the customer, merged across Hebrew and English spellings. Pull your own store's picture from your data before deciding.
Moving from Wix to Shopify, or from WooCommerce to Shopify
Our cohort had one store that moved to Shopify during the period, and we do not publish single-store figures, so this section has no numbers, only experience.
What carries over: products and variants, images, customers and order history (for reporting, not reprocessing). What does not: URLs, the theme, payment processing, shipping rates, invoicing and every app. Google rankings are not imported; they are preserved.
The order that works:
URL map. Export every existing URL and decide where each leads in the new store. Every URL that changes gets a 301 redirect. It is the step most often skipped, and the one that prevents an organic drop.
Hebrew theme. Choose a theme with real right-to-left support, not just right alignment, and test every page on mobile.
Israeli infrastructure. Connect payment processing, shipping rates and invoicing, and run a test order end to end before uploading a product.
Import. Products and customers first, orders after. Check inventory and prices on a sample.
Cutover day. Move the domain, switch on the redirects, and confirm pixels and analytics report from the new store.
After the move, compare the same month against the same month, not the week after against the week before, and read real store revenue rather than reported ROAS, because a migration scrambles attribution for weeks: see real ROAS vs reported ROAS.
What is specific to Israel
Shopify was built for the American market; an Israeli store completes a few things itself.
Hebrew and RTL. The theme must support right-to-left direction everywhere, including the checkout, system messages and customer emails. Translation alone is not enough.
Shekels and VAT. Displayed prices include VAT in Israel; a customer who sees tax added at checkout leaves. Set prices tax-inclusive from the start.
Payments. An Israeli store connects a local payment provider: how to choose, and the fee most stores miss, in Shopify payment gateways in Israel.
Invoices. Israeli law requires an invoice or receipt for every transaction, and Shopify does not issue it. An invoicing integration is part of the setup, not an add-on.
Shipping. Israeli carriers and pickup points connect through an app or manually; a nationwide store needs a clear rate outside the centre.
The week and Shabbat. Sunday to Thursday is the working week, Friday is short, Saturday is quiet. Scheduling, support hours and delivery promises follow this calendar.
Questions we get
What is Shopify?
Shopify is a subscription platform for building and running an online store: design, catalogue, checkout, inventory, orders and customers in one system, with no server and no technical maintenance. You connect what the local market needs: a Hebrew theme, payment processing, shipping and invoicing.
Is Shopify suitable for an Israeli store?
Yes, provided the Israeli part is completed: an RTL theme, tax-inclusive prices in shekels, a local payment provider, an invoicing integration and shipping rates for the whole country. In the 8 stores we measured, 95% of orders went through Shopify's own checkout, and the stores sell nationwide: 78% of orders came from outside the five largest cities.
How much does Shopify cost in Israel?
The subscription is set by Shopify, changes from time to time and is shown on the plans page of its site, by plan and billing type. Beyond the subscription there are costs to budget for: the local payment provider's processing fee, Shopify's own transaction fees where they apply to your plan, apps on monthly plans, an invoicing system, a paid theme if you choose one, and the setup work. The payments side is detailed in Shopify payment gateways in Israel.
How do you move from Wix to Shopify?
In a fixed order: a URL map with 301 redirects for every URL that changes, a Hebrew theme tested on mobile, payment, shipping and invoicing connected and checked with a test order, products and customers imported and then orders, and only then the domain moved and the pixels checked. Success is measured by comparing the same month against the same month, on real store revenue.
Shopify vs WooCommerce is the question we hear most from store owners who have already been told to move and are not convinced. This article is the one we send them: what breaks on a WordPress store over the years, what Shopify changes structurally, what it really costs, who should stay where they are, and six questions that settle the decision in a minute.
Shopify Payments does not operate in Israel, so every Israeli store connects a local payment provider. We went through the official pages of five providers and of Shopify itself on 29.9.2026. The important finding is not the difference between the providers. It is an extra fee Shopify charges on top of all of them.
Google Ads has no price list, but it does have what stores actually pay. We opened the data of 10 Israeli online stores, 467 thousand clicks over nine months of 2026: what a click costs, what stores spend a month, and what an order costs.
